Cationic emulsion polymer and a rheology controlling method are provided to prevent viscosity of the softening agent from increasing with the passage of time by controlling effectively rheology of a fabric softening agent containing a rinse. A softening agent composition contains one or more cationic emulsion polymers and one or more aromatic agents. The cationic emulsion polymer stabilizes viscosity of the softening agent. The aromatic agent is a water insoluble mixture of aromatic compound. An oligomer composition of the cationic emulsion polymer is obtained by emulsion-polymerizing cationic seeds and anionic seeds.
