<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the performance of a battery for a hybrid electric automobile so that a passenger in a vehicle does not become unpleasant. <P>SOLUTION: The hybrid electric automobile 10 has an engine 12, the battery 14, a motor generator 16 driven by the engine 12 or the battery 14, and a control module 24. The battery heating method for the hybrid electric automobile includes a process for judging a battery temperature and a process for judging whether a tip-in event, a tip-out event or a terminal voltage event occurs or not.
