<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control light emission luminance with sufficient accuracy as preventing poor light emission, to improve luminescence life and to further prevent electrode short circuit at an element insulation part. <P>SOLUTION: Organic EL elements E(1, 1) to E(m, n) are arranged to each intersection of scanning lines A(1) to A(m) and signal lines B(1) to B(n) like a matrix. A scanning driver IC8 sequentially connects the selected scanning lines A to a ground and switches unselected scanning lines A to the side of reverse bias voltage Vcc 1. A signal driver IC4 connects a signal line B to which an EL element E made to emit light is connected to a current source 6 and connects other signal lines B to the ground. Each frame is provided with a period for switching all scanning switches 9 to the side of the reverse bias voltage Vcc, switching all driving switches 5 to the ground side and impressing the reverse bias voltage Vcc to all the EL elements E. Bias voltage Vcc 1 is set to be almost equal to voltage which the EL elements are constantly burdened when drive current is supplied from the current source 6 to the EL elements E. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
