NEWSPRINT PAPER FOR OFFSET PRINTING AND METHOD FOR EVALUATING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable of evaluating a point jamming in a folding part of newspaper offset rotary press in a short time and a method capable of evaluating register slippage (fan out) in CD direction of newsprint paper in a short time and further develop and provide newsprint paper for offset printing having little point jamming and/or register slippage in CD direction of paper. SOLUTION: Either one measuring liquid of distilled water, fresh water (tap water) and etching solution is brought into contact with one side of a sample for measurement of newsprint paper for offset printing under specific conditions by using a wetting expansion measuring device and an initial wet elongation ratio in a MD direction after 1.2 sec is measured to evaluate the point jamming. The newsprint paper for offset printing in which the initial wet elongation ratio is 0.01-0.2% has little point jamming. The initial wet elongation ratio in CD direction after 1.2 sec is measured under similar conditions to evaluate the register slippage. The newsprint paper for offset printing in which the initial wet elongation ratio is 0.1-3.0% has little register slippage. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
