PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for effectively suppressing permeation of a hydrophilic coating on the paper surface and to provide coated base paper for printing and the coated paper by the method. SOLUTION: The method for suppressing the permeation of the hydrophilic coating to the coated base paper comprises coating the coated base paper precoated with swellable micas in a coating amount of 0.3-3.5 g/cm2when paper made from pulp as a main raw material is coated with the hydrophilic coating. The coated base paper for printing is provided. Furthermore, the coated paper for printing is provided with the coating layer containing a pigment and an adhesive on the coated base paper.
