A CPU (7) of a communication terminal (A) judges whether or not control parameters such as an encoding control parameter or a multiplexing control parameter to be used for communication are stored in control parameter storage means (6). If the control parameters are stored, the CPU (7) reads the control parameters stored in the control parameter storage means (6) in place of the ability information received from a terminal on the party, and stores them in primary storage means (12). By using the control parameters, the CPU (7) determines a communication mode without communication of messages such as a Terminal Capability Set message and a Terminal Capability Set Ack message, which might otherwise be communicated conventionally, with one another, thereby omitting exchange of ability information between the terminals at the start of communication. |
