VALVE ACTUATOR KIT AND METHOD OF USE ON A FLUID STORAGE TANK

Oil is dispensed from a storage tank to a tanker truck using a kit whic h permits the dispensing valve on the tank to be operated remotely from the tank. The kit is usable with valves of the type having a rotatable valve member and a spout. The kit includes a driven member to be supported for rotation with the rotatable valve member, an actuator to be supported at the free end of the spout and a drive mechanism for communicating between the actuator and the driven member to drive rotation of the driven member responsive to actuation by the actuator. This configuration permits remote activation of the valve at the free end of the spout, and accordingly all the operations for aligning the spout and dispensing oil therefrom into a truck can be accomplished at the free end of the spout, eliminating the danger associated with operators commonly walking across the spout from the truck t o open the valve on the storage tank.
