A method is provided to prevent a damage of a belt of a vehicle air conditioner by cutting off the current being applied to the clutch of a compressor such that the pulley of the compressor operates under a no-load condition when the pressure detected from the compressor is lower than the reference pressure. A method comprises a first step(S2) of detecting the present engine speed of a vehicle at the state where the vehicle air conditioner operates; a second step(S3) of detecting the present pressure of the compressor of the vehicle air conditioner; a third step(S4,S5) of judging whether the present pressure detected in the second step is lower than the reference pressure for the present engine speed detected in the first step; and a fourth step(S6) of cutting off the current being applied to the clutch of the compressor and operating the pulley of the compressor under a no-load condition if the detected pressure of the compressor is lower than the reference pressure.
