A method for realizing the surround sound in one channel speaker by using the relative sound image localization method is provided to realize the surround sound without exchanging the conventional systems. A method for realizing the surround sound in one channel speaker by using the relative sound image localization method includes the steps of: calculating the head-related-transfer-function representing the position of sound source for the listener and the frequency characteristics or the like; changing the head-related-transfer-function into the relative sound image transfer function; and calculating the relationship between the head-related-transfer-function of the corresponding sound image and the head-related-transfer-function of the remaining sound images. In the method, the left and the right signals conserve their characteristics as it is. And, although the left and the right signals are mixed by one channel, the sound image is restored to the original state since the current center sound image has the relationship.
