PHARMACEUTICAL COMPOSITIONS CONTAINING IRBESARTAN

Provided is a pharmaceutical composition comprising irbesartan. The pharmaceutical composition provides tablets with a high relative amount of active material and excellent wetting and disintegration properties. The pharmaceutical composition comprises: (a) 20-70 wt.% of irbesartan or pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof; (b) 1-70 wt.% of lactose hydrous and microcrystalline cellulose as a diluent; (c) 2-20 wt.% of pregelatinized starch as a binder; (d) 1-10 wt.% of croscarmellose sodium as a disintegrant; (e) 0.1-5 wt.% of silicon dioxide as an antiadherent; (f) 0.2-5 wt.% of magnesium stearate as a lubricant; (g) 0.2-6 wt.% of poloxamer 188 as a surfactant; and optionally (h) 0-2 wt.% of a coloring agent, wherein a tablet formed from the composition has a dissolution performance such that 80% or more of the irbesartan or salts thereof contained in the tablet dissolves within 30 minutes.
