PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive mixing apparatus and preferably a disposable mixing apparatus. SOLUTION: The mixing apparatus uses one or more bags that are capable of being selectively pressurized and deflated in conjunction with a disposable bio-bag such as a fermentation vessel, mixing bag, storage bag. One or more of the pressable bags may surround a selected outer part of the bio-bag or may be contained within the inner part of the bio-bag. By selectively pressurizing and deflating one or more of the pressable bags, fluid motion in the bio-bag can be achieved, thereby ensuring cell suspension, mixing and gas transfer within the bio-bag without damaging shear forces and foam generation.
