<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus in which the occurrence of faulty cleaning is suppressed by inexpensive constitution and of which the printing speed is restrained from decreasing due to excessively performing toner supply control and of which the running cost is restrained from increasing. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus has an image carrier on which a toner image is formed, an intermediate transfer body to which the toner image is transferred, a transfer charging means acting to transfer the toner image on the intermediate transfer body to recording material, and a plate-like cleaning member abutting on the intermediate transfer body and cleaning the surface thereof, and has a means for detecting the number of printed sheets in forming an image. Thus, the toner image is formed on the image carrier and transferred to the intermediate transfer body, which is made to get to the plate-like cleaning member in specified timing other than that of forming the image in accordance with the detected number of printed sheets. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
