PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dressing device for a grinding wheel by which grinding efficiency of a work can be improved as a whole by reducing a ratio of processes other than the grinding process occupying in the processing by a surface grinding machine or the like, and further, dressing costs can be reduced. SOLUTION: The dressing device for the grinding wheel is provided with a dressing tool 6, which has a dressing member 8, and a driving means for driving the dressing tool 6 so that the dressing member 8 is moved in the direction different from the movement direction of a grinding wheel face 4 along the grinding wheel face 4 of the grinding wheel 2. The dressing member 8 is provided with a toothing grinding wheel 8a, which is brought into slide contact with the grinding wheel face 4, and a steel material 8b which is arranged at the rear side of the movement direction of the toothing grinding wheel 8a to the toothing grinding wheel 8a and brought into slide contact with the grinding wheel face 4.
