PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize high-density recording and DC erase suppression. SOLUTION: This magnetic head is equipped with: a main magnetic pole 10a of which the recording track width W which appears on a medium running face is≤100 nm and the ratio of the throat height H to the width W, R=H/W, is≥1; and soft magnetic guides 12 consisting of a soft magnetic material whose saturation magnetic flux density is lower than that of the main magnetic pole and which are disposed at both sides in the track width direction of the main magnetic pole.
