<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a skin care preparation for external use having excellent moisturizing action and roughened skin ameliorating effect. <P>SOLUTION: This preparation having excellent moisturizing action and roughened skin ameliorating effect is produced by compounding a skin care preparation for external use with a component derived from a plant of the family Diapensiaceae. The plant of the family Diapensiaceae is e.g. a plant belonging to the genus Diapensia such as Diapensia lapponica Linn., a plant of the genus Shortia such as Shortia uniflora (Maxim.)
