PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water tank for rearing organisms, wholly composed of glass and equipped with a lid body not flying out organisms housed in the interior to the outside of the water tank by surely closing an opening and capable of adequately opening the opening as necessary. SOLUTION: The water tank has a first fixing part (a lip part 2) capable of fitting into an opening edge (1a) of a glass water tank 1, a second fixing part (a lip part 4) and a guide rail part (6) protruded in a direction perpendicular to the first fixing part (2), a side wall (8) of the glass water tank fitted into the first fixing part 2 and fixed to the first fixing part 2 and a plate-shaped lid body (10) (e.g. made of glass) slidably supported by the guide rail part (6).
