PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a document classification device and a document classification method for automatically and efficiently deleting document data that are not efficient for classification work in classified and registered document data. SOLUTION: A plurality of document data classified for each category are stored in an external storage 4. Arbitrary classified document data are related to each of the categories. The classified document data are compared with newly stored document data by a control unit 1 to calculate similarity information. After the newly registered document data are classified for each category, based on the similarity information, it is discriminated whether the classification is right or wrong. When it is discriminated that specified conditions are not met, the classified document data corresponding to the right/wrong information are deleted from the external storage 4.
