A road vehicle has a sensor [2,4,6] for the accelerator pedal [1], the gear shift lever [3] and the clutch [5]. The sensor outputs are connected [7] to the vehicle management controller. When sensors indicate an extra need for engine power, e.g. move from stationary, the unnecessary electrical loads are turned off.
