摘要 <p>Drop wires are supported by the yarn so that at a yarn break they fall on a two-part detector rail, which incorporates a flexible switch that connects the two parts of the rail to give a signal. One of the part rails is divided into sections (11a, 11b, 11c), which are normally connected in parallel through a controller (M). When an end-break is detected the machine is stopped and switches (13) disconnect the power from all but the end section. The sections (11a, 11b, 11c) are then connected in series (14a, 14b, 14c), with light diodes (9a, 9b, 9c) at the junction between sections. The end-break is located in the section just after the last illuminated diode. An independent claim is also included for an arrangement with two separate detector rails where an activated drop wire closes the circuit. One of the rails is divided into sections with similar connections to the controller and switches as before. A permanently magnetized layer on the lower rail ensures good electrical contact with the drop wire. The light diodes (9a, 9b, 9c) can be replaced by diodes so that the controller can calculate the location of the break and provide a alphanumeric readout (A). The cables for the electrical connections are located within the rails by an arrangement of cable ducts and connecting clips.</p>
