PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polymer scale adhesion inhibitor capable of forming a coating film having sufficient scale adhesion-proof performance by a single-step coating, enabling polymer productivity to be improved through cutting the process time, and capable of obtaining polymer products of improved quality through preventing the adhesion of polymer scale to the inner wall surface and the like of a polymerizer even if repeating polymerization batches many times under high-temperature polymerization reaction conditions. SOLUTION: The polymer scale inhibitor for use in polymerizing a monomer having an ethylenically unsaturated double bond comprises (A) a condensation reaction product of an aldehyde compound and a hydroxynaphthalene-based compound and (B) a polyvinyl alcohol with a weight-average molecular weight of 110,000-400,000.
