Evidential logging of vehicle speed, measuring distance to vehicle to verify speed determined using Doppler effect

Frequency of unmodulated continuous radar beam and frequency of beam reflected from the vehicle are compared to determine Doppler frequency and hence the speed of the vehicle. The distance to the traveling vehicle is also measured and then used to verify the measured speed using a second independent measurement process. The process is performed using a radar antenna (5), signal processor (6), and a camera (1). An independent claim is also included for the speed-logging device.
