<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic scanning array type ultrasonic vibrator for reducing a cross talk, raising a yield in manufacturing and obtaining a reliable vibration action, so as to reduce a manufacture cost. <P>SOLUTION: An array type ultrasonic vibrator 1 has, as basic configuration components, a piezoelectric vibrator 11, acoustic matching layers 12, 13, and a backing layer 18, and includes at least one element for mechanically connecting the individual devices constituting the ultrasonic vibrator array. The element for mechanically connecting the devices has a means satisfying at least one of the following conditions, i.e: the frequency characteristics of transverse wave vibration to be propagated through the element have no peculiar resonance frequency; a transverse wave resonance sharpness is smaller than the resonance sharpness of the resonance frequency in longitudinal vibration in each device constituting the ultrasonic vibrator array; a transverse vibration resonance frequency is not equal to a longitudinal vibration resonance frequency. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
