<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrochemical gas sensor being surely sealed only by inserting a lead member therethrough. <P>SOLUTION: This electrochemical gas sensor comprises a diaphragm permeable to a gas under detection and equipped with water repellency, an electrode formed on the diaphragm, a case 1 sealed by the diaphragm for storing an electrolytic solution therein, and a lead member for forming a conductivity relation with the electrode to take a signal out of the case 1. The case 1 has a through hole 10 bored therethrough, the through hole being equipped with a cylindrical part 11 on its surface side, a tapered part 12 on its end side, and a regulation part 15 at its center part. The lead member 19 comprises a lead wire 20 of a thin plate and a plug part 21 formed by injection-molding a polymeric material so as to surround a part of the lead wire and elastically engaging with the through hole 10.
