<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low-cost and compact image forming apparatus which can easily electrically connect a process cartridge and a high voltage power source unit. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus with its carrying path between a paper feeding part and a fixing device installed approximately vertically is provided with a photoreceptor drum and a primary electrifying member to carry out electrification of the photoreceptor drum, the process cartridge which can be attached to and detached from the device main body and provided with a developing member to develop a latent image formed on the photoreceptor drum, an opening and closing member which can be opened and closed to load and unload the process cartridge to the device main body and a process cartridge electrical contact for the eletrifying member, the developing member or for grounding the drum. A high voltage power source unit provided with a contact to apply voltage to the contact or to ground a drum grounding contact is installed and fixed to be approximately in parallel to the carrying direction of paper between the paper feeding and the fixing. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
