Curing agent for a coating composition

Hardener for a water-based epoxy resin systems obtained by reacting a starting mixture to give an intermediate, which is then reacted with a polyamine (e), the starting mixture comprising (a) an epoxidized polyethylene-, polypropylene- or polyethylenepropylene-oxide; (b) an epoxidized bisphenol-A or -F; and (c) bisphenol-A or -F. An independent claim is also included for a hardener obtained by a process as above but in which there is also present in the starting mixture (d) a triglycidyl ether of a triol or a diglycidyl ether of a diol.
