Locking mechanism for a manual gearbox

The locking mechanism (1) of a manual transmission for the forced guiding of a gate pin rigidly connected to a selector shaft has a gate plate (2) with selecting slots. The locking mechanism has a locking device (4) for the limitation of the movement of the gate pin and is provided with a locking element (5) which protrudes into the gate cut-out (3) of the plate. The locking element in a first end position bears against a first stop in the gate cut-out and in a second position bears against a second stop. An independent claim is included for a gate plate for the guiding of gate pin connected to the selector shaft of a manual transmission, whereby the cut-out of the plate has an extension on each end and which has a length corresponding to at least the distance between two adjacent selector slots.
