An apparatus and method for repairing a flat panel display using ink jet printing are provided to repair defective portions of the flat panel display using an ink jet method. An apparatus for repairing a flat panel display using ink jet printing includes an ink jet head(12), a drier, an image acquisition unit(18), transfer units(15,16,19), and a control module(23). The ink jet head sprays a coating material on a defective portion of a to-be-repaired object. The drier dries the coating material. The image acquisition unit obtains information about the to-be-repaired object. The transfer units respectively transfer the ink jet head, the image acquisition unit and a camera in predetermined directions. The control module controls the respective components.
