Identification device for passports and method

A carrier device (CD) (2) fastens on an identity card document (ICD) so as to carry electronic components. A memory device (MD) (5) attaches to the CD to store direct/indirect data about the ICD and additional data. A transmission device (3,4) attaches to the ICD to read data in and out of the MD. An electronic seal (1) stores biometric data about a person in question and/or via data. An independent claim is also included for a method for marking an identity card document.
