A method of retrofitting the idler assemblies (12) of an idler conveyor (10) with an air plenum is shown. The method includes the steps of detaching the belt (24) and removing a preselected number of idler assemblies (12) from an existing frame (32) of the idler conveyor (10). A number of bracket pairs (76) are attached to the frame (32) and an air plenum (38) is attached to the brackets (76). An air source is attached to the plenum (38) and the belt (24) is reattached. A n air plenum conveyor is also shown which includes a frame with a number of bracket pairs attached at spaced intervals along the frame. A V-shaped plenum (38) is secured to the brackets (76). An air source is attached to the plenum (38) to permit a continuous belt (24) positioned about the plenum to be supported by the plenum.
