NUCLEOTIDE SEQUENCES OF SOYBEAN ACYL-ACP THIOESTERASE GENES

The preparation and use of nucleic acid fragments encoding soybean seed acyl - ACP thioesterase enzyme or its precursor to modify plant oil composition are described. Chimeric genes incorporating suc h nucleic acid fragments and suitable regulatory sequences may be used to transform plants to control the levels of saturated and unsaturated fatty acids.
