METHOD OF TREATMENT FOR EXTRACTS OF HOVENIA DULCIS, EXTRACTS BY THE METHOD, FUNCTIONAL DRINKS AND PHARMACEUTICAL COMPOSITIONS INCLUDING THE EXTRACTS

A method of treating Hovenia dulcis extract by acid hydrolysis of Hovenia dulcis with an aqueous acidic solution. The acid hydrolysate of Hovenia dulcis extract has liver protection effect and anticancer effect as well as alcoholysis and can be used in preparation of functional beverage and pharmaceutical composition. The functional beverage and pharmaceutical composition for improving liver function contain the acid hydrolysate of Hovenia dulcis extract as an effective ingredient. The Hovenia dulcis extract is obtained by extraction of Hovenia dulcis with an organic solvent such as methanol, ethanol, etc., or water. Thereafter, the Hovenia dulcis extract is acid-hydrolyzed with an aqueous solution of pH 1-4 at 70 to 90deg.C for 2 to 10hr to give the acid hydrolysate of Hovenia dulcis extract. The aqueous acidic solution is hydrochloric acid or sulfuric acid.
