Provided are a luminous compound which has a high luminance and excellent durability and fastness, and a light emitting device provided with a light emitting layer containing the compound. The luminous compound is represented by the formula 1, wherein R1 is H, a vinyl group, an aryl group or a C1-C10 alkyl group capable of being substituted with a halogen atom; Ar1 is a group formed by separating the two hydrogen atoms bonded to an aromatic hydrocarbon ring; and Ar2 is an aryl group. Preferably Ar1 is represented by the formula 2-1 or 2-2 and Ar2 is represented by the formula 2-3 or 2-4, wherein R2, R3, R4 and R5 are H or a C1-C10 alkyl group capable of being substituted with a halogen atom; p is an integer of 1-5; q is an integer of 1-3; r is an integer of 1-4; s is 1 or 2; and a plurality of R2s, R3s, R4s or R5s are identical or different one another.
