PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently manufacture a polymerization toner having significantly excellent dispersibility of a colorant, homogeneous and sharp particle size distribution and excellent toner characteristics such as image density and color tone. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing a polymerization toner includes a step 1 of preparing a polymerizable monomer composition and a step 2 of polymerizing the polymerizable monomer composition in an aqueous medium to produce colored polymer particles. The step 1 includes a dispersion step of finely dispersing a colorant in a mixture liquid containing the polymerizable monomer and the colorant by using a specified media-type dispersing machine. The medium type dispersing machines is equipped with a rotor and a media separation screen which are disposed on a driving shaft and simultaneously rotated with rotation of the driving shaft.
