摘要 A cutting device and a cutting method are provided to start a predicted cut position detection or a parallel table moving operation before a cutting unit reaches a top point of a vertical motion, thereby carrying out the detection or the moving operation concurrently with a cutting operation, consequently time can be minimized. When a disk-type cam(15) is rotated at 180 degrees, a cutting blade(23) reaches the lowest point while cutting a ceramic laminate block(30). If a cutting unit driving motor(9) is rotated, the cutting blade(23) is changed into a rise state from a drop state. When an end of the cutting blade(23) is taken out of the ceramic laminate block(30), a trigger signal generator transmits a trigger signal to an image processor. If the image processor receives the trigger signal, both sections of the ceramic laminate block(30) are photographed by CCD cameras(5a,5b) while a photographed image is obtained to detect a predicted cut position. The cutting blade(23) keeps rising.
