PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow shift operation for gear stage change including range operation in a shorter time in connection with shift control of an automatic transmission. SOLUTION: When there is a demand for changing a gear stage inclusive of changing operation of a range shift section, before instructions are given to a transmission actuator for disconnection of gears in a transmission body, the range shift section is kept inoperative, instructions are given for previously supplying air to both air chambers of the first air chamber and the second air chamber, and after the instructions for disconnection of the gears (inclusive of the time of the instructions), instructions are given for stopping air supply to a range shifting side of the range shift section and to the opposite air chamber.
