<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cap having a straw insertion opening which satisfies three conditions at a high level: the ability to be opened with a straw, the prevention of falling of an opening area, and the formation of an air hole. <P>SOLUTION: The synthetic resin cap 1 comprises a top plate 2, and a skirt 3 extending down from the peripheral edge of the top plate 2. The top plate 2 includes a central portion 2a in which a recess is defined, and a peripheral portion 2b located outside of the central portion. On the inside of the cap, which corresponds with the recess 21, is a projection 22 projecting downward. The projection 22 has thin portions in a radial form, which are processed from the internal face side of the cap.
