<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To adjust an exposure head while reproducing a condition akin to actual printing. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus is equipped with: the exposure head wherein a plurality of light-emitting elements corresponding to pixels of data on an image to be exposed are arranged in a main scanning direction; an optical sensor which has a light-receiving part for detecting light, emitted from the light-emitting elements, in a light-receiving position; a light quantity measuring means for measuring the quantity of the light emitted from the light-emitting elements and received by the optical sensor; and a control means for controlling an exposure driving condition of each light-emitting element in the formation of the image, in accordance with the result of measurement by the light quantity measuring means in the measurement of the quantity of the light. Characteristically, in the measurement of the quantity of the light, the control means performs a drive for the emission of the light from only the light-emitting element to be detected in such a range as to be capable of contributing to detection by the optical sensor, and performs a drive for the emission of the light from the light-emitting elements in such a range as not to contribute to the detection by the optical sensor, so that the quantity of the light can be measured by the light quantity measuring means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
