PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a garbage treatment apparatus capable of enhancing decomposition efficiency. SOLUTION: When a judgment that IC card reading is required is made (S1), the storage contents of the IC card are read (S2) and a judgment on whether or not the reading operation is conducted within a charging time period allowing garbage charging is made (S3). When a reading operation is made within the charging time period, the storage contents are checked (S5) and are stored and accumulated in a control data area (S7). Then, a stirrer rod in the apparatus body is stopped (S8) and a lock mechanism is controlled to be in the unlocked state by an electrical lock.
