OVERWRAPPING PACKAGING MACHINE AND METHOD FOR SETTING GUIDE WIDTH OF TRANSVERSE FOLDING GUIDE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an overwrapping packaging machine and a method for setting a guide width of a transverse folding guide which can package beautifully even a product being longitudinally long in the up and down direction on a packaging line under a double-point end fold packaging form. SOLUTION: The overwrapping packaging machine is equipped with a movable transverse folding guide 12 and a fixed transverse folding guide 18 for inserting respectively a part of a selvage of a sheet S as a packaging material and forming the remaining of the selvage as upper and lower flaps, and their guide widths of these transverse folding guides 12 and 18 are set so as to provide a trapezoid shape leaving an apex edge with a required length to the upper and lower flaps. The guide width of the transverse folding guide is set from a result where a tentative packaging of a product P is simulated based on the size of the product P and that of a sheet S and a required length of the apex edge required.
