PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a purification apparatus which can wash a filtration device with a small amount of water and is preferable economically and effectively. SOLUTION: In the purification apparatus having the filtration device B fitted with a filter medium for filtering suspended substances contained in suspension water, the suspension water is purified by introducing the suspension water from the upper part of the filtration device B and discharging it from the lower part of the device B, and the filter medium of the device B is washed by introducing washing water from the lower part of the device B and discharging it from the upper part of the device B. A filter D for removing the suspended substances separated from the filter medium which are contained in the washing water discharged from the upper part of the device B is provided.
