PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new testosterone 5α-reductase inhibitor and a hair growing cosmetic by utilizing a plant extract.

SOLUTION: The new testosterone 5α-reductase inhibitor or the hair growing cosmetic comprises one or more kinds of plant extracts selected from an extract from Striga asiatica (L.) O. Kuntze, an extract from Butea monosperma (Lam.) Taub., an extract from Alangium chinense (Lour.) Harms, an extract from Alternanthera sessilis (L.) R. Br., an extract from Procryis wightiana wall ex Wedd., an extract of Desmodium triflorum (L.) DC., an extract from Stephania japonica Miers. and an extract from Polypodium vulgare.
