The method involves generating processed images (I 3, I 4) in which colors of pixels is different from a color of pixel in a source image (I 1). The modified colors of the pixels on each image (I 3, I 4) are compensated to obtain a color corresponding to the color of the pixel in the image (I 1). The luminance of the pixels in each processed image is equal to that of the pixel in the source image. An independent claim is also included for an image display device having a processing circuit implementing a source image processing method.
