PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stereoscopic microscope of which the size from the top to the bottom of a microscope main body is reduced, and which facilitates observation with naked eye from the vicinity of the eyepiece section toward the bottom direction and eliminates a conventional failure regarding an assistance microscope. SOLUTION: In the stereoscopic microscope, an objective optical system 21 is arranged in a longitudinal direction state and a zoom optical system 22 is arranged in a lateral direction state and is divided into two groups arranged parallel to each other so that they are in the same level in a longitudinal direction. The luminous flux passed the zoom optical system 22 is passed through the top side of the zoom optical system 22 and folded back to an eyepiece optical system 23 side. The lens L2 of the objective optical system 21 whose edge is cut causes a luminous flux K1 to passes the position where the radius of the lens L2 is made small. An assistant microscope 7 to which an objective optical system 15, a zoom optical system 16 and an eyepiece optical system 18 are independently provided with respect to the microscope main body 2, are mounted onto a taking-in port 3 of the microscope main body 2.
