Arrangement for making precision cuts and openings in the cornea of the eye, whereby a pulsed laser is used as a cutting tool. The laser generates short pulses of length 10->1>3> to 10->1>2> seconds. Independent claims are also included for two methods for making precision cuts and openings in the cornea of the eye using a pulsed laser is used as a cutting tool.
