摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To quantitatively estimate a design load and efficiency in each stage of a design process for a product. <P>SOLUTION: The design process is grasped as combination of decision making or substitutional plan selection, and a branched structure in the design process, a provability distribution of the substitutional plan selection of each level in the branched structure, and the number of design variables after determination of a substitutional plan set and the number of levels of each the design variable are inputted as basic structure data (S801-S803). The branched structure is classified into 'a branch of the substitutional plan selection' and 'a branch of a design unit independently advanced in parallel' (S804). By applying a calculation method of 'entropy in Shannon's information theory' on the basis of a result of the classification and the probability distribution of the substitutional plan selection, complicacy of the whole branched structure is estimated, and complication of a design and a design progress level of the whole are quantitatively estimated (S810). Estimation items such as 'design period reduction effect' of design work or 'cost reduction effect' are converted into standards such as a time or money and is quantitatively estimated, to support optimization of the design process. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p>
