PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gear shift control device for an automatic transmission for securing driving force with good response to acceleration requirement of a driver in a medium stage region of a corner, while securing stability in vehicle behavior in an earlier stage region of the corner. SOLUTION: The gear shift control device for an automatic transmission has a corner gear shift control means for a corner gear shift control instead of a normal gear shift control in turning or lane change. The corner gear shift control means has a part for a control of the earlier stage region of the corner which starts a transmission ratio fixing control when determines the start of the turning or lane change, and a part for a control of the medium stage region of the corner which performs a control for changing the transmission ratio on a downshift side instead of the transmission ratio fixing control when determines that the driver intends to accelerate the vehicle.
