PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic device capable of acquiring a connection mode, when a USB cable is connected, selecting first or second configuration conforming to the acquired connection mode and executing processing for transferring data on the basis of the first or the second configuration, and to provide its interface control method. SOLUTION: The electronic device has a USB controller 12, capable of transferring data in a High-Speed mode for transferring data at a first transfer rate and in a Full-Speed mode for transferring data at a rate lower than the first transfer rate with a digital camera, capable of transmitting/receiving the data with an external device via a USB; whether the connection mode is the High-Speed mode or the Full-Speed mode is acquired when the USB cable is connected, the first or second configuration conforming to the acquired mode is selected; and USB controller 212 is controlled based upon the selected first or second configuration, and processing for transferring data is executed.
