<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical transmitter capable of inexpensively and easily configuring a radio subscriber terminal in an optical-radio fusion communication system. <P>SOLUTION: A first optical modulator 4 applies carrier wave suppression double sideband optical modulation to an output light from a single spectrum light source 3, using an electric carrier wave signal having a frequency equal to a half value of the frequency of a radio signal generated in a first electric oscillator 7. A second optical modulator 5 applies carrier wave suppression double sideband optical modulation to an output light from the first optical modulator 4, using an electric carrier wave signal having frequency equal to a half value of the frequency of an arbitrary intermediate frequency generated in a second electric oscillator 8.
