COMPOSITION AND METHOD FOR DECONTAMINATING SOIL AND GROUND WATER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition for decontaminating soil and ground water which is added once to the contaminated soil and ground water so that carbon can be supplied for a long period of time and the solubility of which as a carbon source is improved so that a wide range of the contaminated soil and ground water can be decontaminated by a few points where this composition is added and to provide a method for decontaminating soil and ground water. SOLUTION: This typical composition for decontaminating soil and ground water contains a straight-chain saturated fatty acid of≥14 carbon numbers and/or saturated alcohol of≥14 carbon numbers and a surfactant as main components. The surfactant is selected from an anionic surfactant and a nonionic surfactant. The HLB value of the surfactant is made to be≥4 and the amount of the surfactant to be added is made to be≥2 wt.% and≤55 wt.%. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
