A method for content-related notification of electronic messages in the form of electronically storable images, voice messages and/or text, involves the receiving system for the electronic message analyzing the message and then on the basis of the content and sender of the electronic message, determining an electronically representable summary descriptor analysis, which does not exceed a given size. The electronic summary is then prepared for the user. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) software for a computer (2) a data carrier for a computer (3) a computer system.
